Tabletop Gaming (Bookshop Lecture Series) w/ Remote Viewing Option
RSVP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT
6:15 pm. What on earth is tabletop gaming? with Nicola from Dynamite Dice. If you've ever been curious about "that dnd stuff" or wondered why so many 30 somethings are spending hours at a table hand painting detailed miniatures... this presentation is for you. This lecture will provide a brief overview of tabletop gaming, from the massively complex ongoing campaigns like Warhammer or Dungeons & Dragons, to leveled-up "Family Game Night" adventures like Scythe or Mysterium. The talk will be followed up by a Q & A session, where veteran gamers and newbies alike are encouraged to ask anything they want to.
7:00 pm. Nerdy Social Hour. Ready to make some new friends? Hang out; introduce yourself (or don't - we won't make you); or wander around the bookstore by yourself. We're hoping to get some feedback on how best to proceed with our event schedule, so this is a great time to let us know if you have opinions about future nerdy events. There will be a suggestion box so you can share your ideas without having to actually talk to anyone, should you be more comfortable that way. And snacks. There will definitely be snacks.
Photobooth. Look, we're nerds too, we know how this works. At least 50% of the purpose of wearing a costume to an event is posting for photos. So, just for one night, we're rearranging things a bit in order to allow you to get awesome selfies with the book arch! It makes a fabulous backdrop (see below for samples).
Tabletop Gaming Display. Thanks to the generosity of a number of local hobbyists we are able to set up an exhibit featuring all kinds of cool stuff for you to see: including completed minis, first edition AD&D rulebooks, gorgeous strategy game box art, and much more!
Can I Attend Remotely? YES! We are happy to accommodate remote viewing for anyone who is more comfortable participating from the saftey of their home. Please let us know when you RSVP that you'll be attending remotely, so we can get you on the correct list and issue the login info at the right time.
What Should I Wear? Anything you like! Costumes are encouraged but definitely not required; which could mean anything from adding a pair of gothy boots to your "normal" outfit, all the way on up to winged battesuits or formal historical ensembles. We'd love to see you strut your stuff! There haven't been a lot of places to wear costumes lately, so let's enjoy it whenever we can.
Are masks required? We do continue to follow local ordinances in terms of social distancing, masks, etc. To keep it simple, we will follow whatever standard the City of Punta Gorda sets as of the date of the event.
Is there a fee? There is no cost to attend, but we do require everyone to RSVP so that we can plan properly.
How do I RSVP? Please call us at 941-505-1624 to reserve your spot for this event.
